5 Advantages of Learning English With News Reports and Newspapers

Hello everyone! My name is Dmitry and I have created this website for those who is studying English language. I know that the Internet is full of different language courses and materials for learners of all levels. Nowadays you can start learning a language even with a native speaker, thanks to new technologies.

So what is the reason to create a new online source?

The actual reason is that I haven't found a good one for myself. I have seen a lot and use so many, they all help me improve my language but they are made not for educational purposes.

I prefer news reports. I watch and listen to American, British, Australian news platforms. Most of them have online 24/7 YouTube channels. Their websites are helpful as well. So I suggest watching and listening to them on a daily basis. Actually you can spend only 5 - 10 minutes a day and that would be enough at least in the beginning.

Here I would like to point out the advantages of learning languages with news reports and articles:

1. This method is free. All you need is to open YouTube on your laptop or an application on your smartphone.

2. Available 24/7. You can use this method as an additional way of learning a language. Listen and watch while on the way to your work or back home. You like walking in parks? Well, why not to listen to a news report or a discussion on a radio?

3. The information you get is useful and you stay updated. It does not matter where you are from because all platforms report the same within a global news part and they always have one.

4. You listen to people speaking naturally. They do not slowdown, they do not wait for you to catch every word or phrase. For some learners it is a nightmare when they simply can't understand anything from a short video after months or maybe even years of studying English. But IT IS TOTALLY OK, guys! Just start listening and watching now!

5. You "meet" (actually listen to) different people. And this point is amazing. News reports always contain situations where not only a news anchors and other staff included so you see and listen to regular people. Often these people are medics, police officers, politicians, militaries, passers-by from different parts of the world.

These 5 points show studying English using news is a huge instrument that can become your main method of deepening into environment of the English language.
